Before the scan the computer will not be effected at all by this change. Just by telling the computer to scan itself at 10am every Friday does not effect the computer is any way. It isn’t until the scan actually starts at 10am that it may effect your computers perforamce.

During The Scan.

During the scan AVG opens every files on your computer and checks to see if it is infected. It does all this behind the scenes however there are noticeable changes. Your computer will be making more noise than normal this is because of the hard drive needle finding data and opening it for AVG, also the lights on your computer will be flashing a lot whilst AVG accesses that data on the hard drive, because of it accessing data on the hard drive you will notice that if you do go to open a file it will take longer than normal to open.  It will use up a lot of your systems RAM so it is best to schedule the system scan at a time when you will either not be using the computer .i.e. at night, or during times when you will be doing simple less memory intensive tasks, such as when you are simply typing a word document.

Why do it?

If it effects the computers performance you may be thinking why do it?  We schedule a full system scan so that AVG, or your choosen antivuius, can seek out viruses that are hidden in your files.  If we did not schedule a scan we would normally not find the time to do it.  Although it does slow the system down during the scan it is a good task to be carried out, it keeps your computer safe and secure and stops viruses that are hidden in files being sent to other people.
